Gusmano Barbieri

A tenor, who created the Conte di Lerma and the royal herald in the five-act Don Carlos at Modena in 1886-87, and sang both parts again at La Scala in 1897. At Modena he was Roderigo in Otello in 1888. He sang Matheos and other small parts in Franchetti's Cristoforo Colombo at La Scala and at Turin in 1893-94, Parpignol in La bohème at La Scala in March 1897 and a halberdier in the premiere of Franchetti's Il signor di Pourceaugnac there that April, and a pedlar in Iris at Turin in 1899.
