Barnolt

Barnolt, the stage name of Paul Fleuret, was a French tenor and one of the most useful and faithful servants of the Opéra-Comique. He studied briefly at the Paris Conservatoire under Charles Bataille and made his debut at the house in July 1870 as Dandolo in Zampa. He stayed with the company for the thirty years left to him and took part in some thirty of its premieres, among them Le roi l'a dit, Carmen and La Basoche, and in the first Paris performances of Werther, Falstaff and La bohème. He died a day after his sixty-first birthday.
