Aleksandr Belyanin

Aleksandr Belyanin was a Russian bass who sang Mityukha at the 1928 Leningrad premiere of the original 1869 Boris Godunov. He trained at the Moscow Conservatory under Varvara Zarudnaya and joined the Mariinsky company in 1909, staying twenty-six years. He sang in Diaghilev's Russian Seasons in Paris and London in 1913 and 1914, and in the house's first performances of Strauss's Elektra, Stravinsky's The Nightingale and Prokofiev's The Love for Three Oranges. The new Soviet repertory brought him the premieres of Pashchenko's The Eagles' Revolt and Deshevov's Ice and Steel.
