Josef Correck

Josef Correck was a German baritone who created Robert Storch, the Kapellmeister at the centre of Strauss's Intermezzo, at its Dresden premiere in 1923, while a member of the Staatstheater Dresden's company. He sang at the Stadttheater Essen from 1919 to 1924 and at Chemnitz until 1928, before settling at the Städtische Bühnen Hannover as a Kammersänger. Wounded in an Allied air raid on Hanover in 1944, he gave a song recital for the hospital staff treating him while he recovered, and died in the city in 1948.
