Josef Correck

Josef Correck was a German baritone who created Robert Storch, the Kapellmeister at the centre of Strauss's Intermezzo, at its Dresden premiere in 1924, while a member of the Staatstheater Dresden's company. There in 1925 he created the Duke of Parma in Busoni's Doktor Faust. He sang at the Stadttheater Essen from 1919 to 1924 and at Chemnitz until 1928, before settling at the Städtische Bühnen Hannover as a Kammersänger. Wounded in an Allied air raid on Hanover in 1944, he gave a song recital for the hospital staff treating him while he recovered, and died there in 1948.
