Eugène Dufriche

Eugène Dufriche was a French baritone with a long international career in secondary roles. He trained at the Paris Conservatoire and made his debut at the Opéra-Comique in 1874, creating Zuniga in Carmen there the following March. He sang at Covent Garden from 1890 to 1905, creating Bustamente in the first La Navarraise in 1894, and at the Metropolitan Opera from 1893 to 1908, appearing also in Monte Carlo, Vienna, Milan, St Petersburg, Buenos Aires and Naples. He taught at the National Conservatory of Music of America alongside his seasons at the Met.
