Pauline Guéymard-Lauters

Pauline Guéymard-Lauters was a Belgian soprano of great extension who sang mezzo-soprano parts as well. Born Pauline Lauters, she sang first as Deligne-Lauters, took the tenor Louis Guéymard's name on marrying in 1858, and divorced in 1868. She debuted at the Théâtre Lyrique in 1854, first sang at the Paris Opéra in 1857 as Léonore in the French Le trouvère, and stayed until 1876, creating Lilia in David's Herculanum, Balkis in Gounod's La reine de Saba, Alda in Mermet's Roland à Roncevaux, Eboli, and Gertrude in Thomas's Hamlet. She took the mezzo-soprano parts to the Théâtre-Italien afterwards.
