Carola Jovanovic

Carola Jovanovic was an Austrian soprano who began her career in 1904 at Olmütz, then sang at Frankfurt and, from 1906, at the Graz opera house. She joined the Vienna Court Opera in 1911, remaining a member until 1932, and created Echo in the premiere of the revised Ariadne auf Naxos in 1916. She appeared at the Salzburg Festival through the 1920s and as a guest in Munich and Berlin, and her repertoire included Gretel in Hänsel und Gretel and the title role of Madama Butterfly. No recordings of her voice are known to survive.
