Angela Kolniak
Birthplace: Vienna, Austria-Hungary
Angela Kolniak was an Austrian lyric soprano who moved from Vienna to Dresden in 1921 and joined the State Opera there, creating the First Elf in the premiere of Strauss's Die ägyptische Helena in 1928 and one of Daphne's two maids in the premiere of Daphne in 1938. Her wider repertoire at the house included Nuri in Tiefland, Micaëla in Carmen, Mimì in La bohème, the title role of Madama Butterfly, Eva in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, Gilda in Rigoletto and Solveig in Peer Gynt. She remained in Dresden until her death.
