Martin Kremer

Martin Kremer was a German tenor, the son of a winegrower, who studied with Willy Fahr in Wiesbaden and Giuseppe Borgatti in Milan. He made his stage debut at Kassel in 1924, moved to Wiesbaden in 1927 and joined the Dresden State Opera in 1929, remaining until 1940 and creating three Strauss roles there: Matteo in Arabella (1933), Henry Morosus in Die schweigsame Frau (1935) and Leukippos in Daphne (1938). He sang at the Bayreuth Festival from 1933 to 1939 as David and Froh, and after further engagements in Berlin returned to Wiesbaden in 1948, giving his farewell performance in 1956.
