Napoleone Limonta
Napoleone Limonta was an Italian bass who sang supporting roles in Italian houses from 1881. At La Scala he took part in the premieres of Ponchielli's Marion Delorme (1885) and Catalani's Edmea (1886), and created Montano in Otello in 1887, repeating it in the opera's first productions at Rome, Venice and Parma. In five seasons at the Teatro Solís in Montevideo between 1884 and 1896 he rose to roles such as Procida, Marcel and the Grand Inquisitor. He later recorded Marullo in Rigoletto and Wagner in Faust for La Voce del Padrone.
