Hans Löbel

Hans Löbel was a German bass-baritone who made his stage debut in 1928 at the Breslau Opera House, returning to Dresden in 1935 as a chorus member before moving into solo roles. His repertoire came to include Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro, Faninal in Der Rosenkavalier and Jochanaan in Salome, and he sang with the Leipzig Opera from 1949 to 1951 before returning to Dresden for the rest of his career. He created the Third Shepherd in the premiere of Strauss's Daphne in 1938.
