Hans Löbel
Birthplace: Dresden, Kingdom of Saxony
Hans Löbel was a German baritone who began his career at the Breslau Opera House and at Stolp before joining the chorus of the Dresden State Opera in 1935 and moving into solo roles. His repertoire came to include Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro, Faninal in Der Rosenkavalier and Jochanaan in Salome, and he sang with the Leipzig Opera from 1949 to 1951 before returning to Dresden for the rest of his career. He created the Third Shepherd in the premiere of Strauss's Daphne in 1938.
