Anton Lutz

Anton Lutz was the son of an Austrian police servant and joined the Grand Ducal Court Theatre in Weimar in 1855, spending the rest of his career there as a bit-part actor and chorus singer. He outlived half a dozen general intendants and was by the end the oldest member of any German stage, receiving a silver medal of merit from the Grand Duke of Saxe-Weimar in 1896. He created the Old Man in the premiere of Strauss's Guntram at the house in 1894, four years before his death.
