Franz Nebuschka

Franz Nebuschka was an Austrian bass-baritone who studied under Josef Gänsbacher at the Vienna Conservatory of the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde and made his debut at the Dresden Court Opera in 1882, remaining there until his retirement in 1913. He created Ortolf Sentlinger in the premiere of Strauss's Feuersnot in 1901, the First Soldier in the premiere of Salome in 1905, and the Old Servant in the premiere of Elektra in 1909, singing chiefly in the German repertoire. He also sang a season in Łódź in 1883 and made guest appearances in Cologne, Dortmund, Bremen and Berlin, and was well-regarded as a concert singer. He died in Klotzsche, near Dresden, in 1917.
