Karl Ostertag
Birthplace: Ulm, Kingdom of Württemberg
Karl Ostertag was a German tenor who studied in Munich and sang at Neustrelitz, Zürich and Bremen before two long spells at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, from 1936 to 1947 and again from 1950 to 1969, with engagements at Düsseldorf and Kassel between them. He created the Mayor in the world premiere of Strauss's Friedenstag at Munich in 1938.
