Maria Rajdl was an Austrian soprano who was engaged at the Vienna State Opera from 1920 to 1926, debuting in the title role of Madama Butterfly, and created Aithra in the premiere of Strauss's Die ägyptische Helena at the Dresden Semperoper in 1928. She married the Norwegian tenor Karl Aagaard Østvig, first tenor at the Vienna State Opera from 1919 to 1926, and the couple moved to Norway in 1932, where both worked as voice teachers; their daughter Lillemarie Østvig became a concert singer. Rajdl died in Oslo in 1972.
