Birthplace: Perugia, Papal States
Teofilo Rossi was an Italian tenor from Perugia, a pupil of Giuseppe Rossi-Bonaccorsi, who began at Perugia in 1832 and sang at Arezzo the following year. From 1835 he belonged to the company of the royal theatres of Naples, singing second and third parts at the San Carlo, the Fondo and the Teatro Nuovo, and he was still there in 1860. In that rank he took the small tenor roles in many Naples premieres, among them Otumbo in Verdi's Alzira in 1845 and the peasant in Luisa Miller in 1849.
