Theo Strack

Theo Strack was an Austrian tenor who began his career at the Vienna Volksoper from 1909 to 1912, followed by engagements at Graz, Augsburg and Hanover. He sang at the Weimar National Theatre from 1920 to 1923 and the Dresden State Opera from 1923 to 1925, creating Baron Lummer in the premiere of Strauss's Intermezzo there in 1924 and taking part in the premiere of Busoni's Doktor Faust in 1925. From 1925 he was a principal artist at the Karlsruhe State Theatre until 1944, singing heroic and Wagnerian roles, and appeared as a guest at the Paris Opéra, Barcelona, Chicago, Buenos Aires and the 1934 Salzburg Festival.
