Teatro dell'Opera di Roma
formerly Teatro Costanzi, Teatro Reale dell'Opera
Built by the contractor Domenico Costanzi at his own expense and still widely called by his name. Tosca was first given here in 1900. Bought by the city in November 1926 and renamed the Teatro Reale dell'Opera, then rebuilt over the two years following. It took its present name in 1946, with the end of the monarchy.
