Wiener Staatsoper

also Wiener Hofoper, Vienna Court Opera
Austria-Hungary at the 1875 Tannhäuser and the Vienna Carmen. The court theatre became simply the Operntheater when the monarchy fell in November 1918, and took the name Wiener Staatsoper officially only in 1938, having been widely called the Staatsoper since the 1920s. Bombed in 1945 and reopened in 1955.
